At Cornerstone we believe that children are a vital part of our church family. We want to value and nurture the children God has entrusted to us. For this reason, we have a dedicated Kid's Church programme which hopes to lead them to know Christ more and learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus. The Kid's church programme is split into four groups: Little Creche Big Creche, JAM (Jesus and Me) and CK4C (Cornerstone Kids 4 Christ).
Little Creche
0-1 year olds During the service, the children can play at the back of the hall in the designated creche area. They can also join Big Creche if they are accompanied by an adult. Little creche is supervised by the parent/carer of the child. Big Creche
2-4 year olds Big Creche is a play based group. Children have the opportunity to build relationships with one another and their leaders. They also have a group circle time with a Bible story, songs and prayer. |
JAM (Jesus and Me)
Primary 1- Primary 3 In JAM, the children start by playing together and building relationships with one another and their leaders. Then they have a group time with a Bible lesson, songs and prayer. We work through the Old & New Testaments telling the story of God's plan for His people and what it means for us today. In the Old Testament we tell the story of God's People and how God created and cares for the world. We frame our studies in the New Testament around five key questions: Who is Jesus?, What is the church?, Who is God? Who is the Holy Spirit? and What is a Christian? We also have a Bible memory curriculum where the children learn 10 verses a year. |
CK4C (Cornerstone Kids 4 Christ)
Primary 4 - Primary 7 CK4C gain a broad Bible overview by working through the 'Whats in the Bible' (DVD) Curriculum, an in-depth study in the Gospel of Luke, exploring what a Christian perspective is on various school subjects (Art, Maths, Music etc.), and the five key questions: Who is Jesus?, What is the church?, Who is God? Who is the Holy Spirit? and What is a Christian? Once every 5 weeks CK4C get to enjoy 'Cookies and Chat' where someone from the church comes to join their group and be interviewed by the children about their Christian faith. This gives a great opportunity for cross generational relationships to form and for the children to hear about the difference knowing Jesus has made in someones life. We also have a Bible memory curriculum where the children learn 10 verses a year. |
Kid's Church Leader: Michelle Redfern
Michelle is married to Dave and they have three children, Lucy, James and Elizabeth. She loves teaching and being with children and feels privileged to prepare lessons to help the children know Jesus more. She has taught for several years as a primary school teacher. There is also a dedicated Kid's church team that work together to support the children in our church. |
